Large Pattern Repeats
Large Pattern Repeats
Two decades in this business and here’s a first for me... we just made upholstered cornices from a 60” pattern repeat fabric! It’s hinged in the center and still barely fit in the van. From what I hear about fabric trends, these extra large pattern repeats are growing in popularity. They are well suited for upholstered screens, bed coverings and windows taller than 10’. This brings some interesting twists to our industry such as more challenging pattern placement on top treatments. This will require more awareness of your focal point placement because they may differ from window to window depending on size. On the cornices we made, we railroaded the repeat and that worked just fine, but the smaller windows have different pattern placement than the larger ones. I’m really excited about this because in one pattern repeat of fabric we can cut out different focal points which can add a modern variety in a room as opposed to the traditional repetitiveness of pattern.
